counting them.

I'm smart. I have a job. I have an intelligent, beautiful husband & great marriage. I'm athletic. I play roller derby. I have a fantastic group of amazing, unique, talented friends. I feel pretty. I'm artistic. I have a house, car & furry children. I have family who loves me and drives hours to come see me on my birthday.
Just realizing I'm blessed. I may not have everything, but I have something.
How about you?

Rolling with the punches - err, hits.

Things have been okay lately. Busy, and just... the way life is. Things always happening. Lots of things going wrong, but I roll with the punches and take it like a man derby girl. I'm tough.

I've been in four bouts since starting derby in February/March and still lovin' it. I got new knee pads for the bout we hosted last Saturday and they have made all the difference in the world because my knees were about to fall off. Or break into a million pieces. Everytime I fell it literally felt like my knee was on fire. Burning. Owch.

I got these:

I used to have these:

No matter what anyone tells you, there is a BIG difference. My advice to ANY potential derby girl is to GET GOOD KNEE PADS. My line of thought was, "I don't know if I'm going to stick with this, so I don't want to spend a butt load of money on expensive gear... If I like derby, and I'm going to stick with it, I'll upgrade then."

Well, by then, it's a little too late. Your knees are already grinding and cracking when you rub them and now you have nerve damage and the right side of your right knee is numb like it's been injected with a shot of Novocaine.

You know... uh... hypothetically.
