domestic duties

I kind of miss blogging. Especially my 365 project. I really miss it, actually.
I'm going to start again the following New Year and finish the entire year. I promise myself!

Now time to go clean the house. I've been falling behind drastically on my domestic duties. I'm a horrible housewife. After working all day, all week, all I want to do on the weekends is rest or have fun. Can you blame me?

Also, everyone is pregnant. It's not fair.

pageant flashback

I sang this in a middle school pageant. I'm pretty sure I won the talent portion, but I messed up on my interview question (spoke to the question asker instead of the judges) and ended up getting 2nd runner up. Or 3rd place. However you word it, I got a trophy! lol :)

I kind of miss being in pageants. I never appreciated it when I was doing it.

I was reminded of this song when the preacher at the wedding Todd and I shot a couple weeks ago came up to me and asked if I had sung this song in a pageant once. Honestly, I had totally forgotten about it. Now I'm glad to have looked it up and spent some time reminiscing on all the songs I used to sing in pageants... I could look more up and post them. ;) That would be fun.

Enjoy... ;)

I didn't really like this one all that much...

I used to sing this one in a weddings...

monthly "hello"

So, I should update at least once in the month of October.

Just taking life one day at a time. Is there really any other way? I guess I could be working harder to plan for the future, but it's hard enough just to take each day as it comes.

I'm no longer an After School teacher at my daycare. I'm now the "Kindergarten Prep Academy" teacher... at the same daycare. lol. :) So basically, I'm working with the 4/5 year olds who will be starting school next year. I love it. Finally getting my 40+ hours a week and I actually really, really enjoy it. :)

Derby is still going well, the new knee pads have helped a lot, but I still have some burning sensation and numbness in my right knee. But mostly I'm just getting tired. I need to work out more but I just don't have the time. On my nights off, it's all I can do to cook dinner and stay awake.

Well... there's probably a lot more I could update with but I need to get some sleep.
Oh, I did make some delicious chili tonight and homemade corn bread (thanks to Adrienne bringing me some corn meal!) and invited her and Eric over for dinner. :) Lots of fun!

Goodnight. :)

counting them.

I'm smart. I have a job. I have an intelligent, beautiful husband & great marriage. I'm athletic. I play roller derby. I have a fantastic group of amazing, unique, talented friends. I feel pretty. I'm artistic. I have a house, car & furry children. I have family who loves me and drives hours to come see me on my birthday.
Just realizing I'm blessed. I may not have everything, but I have something.
How about you?

Rolling with the punches - err, hits.

Things have been okay lately. Busy, and just... the way life is. Things always happening. Lots of things going wrong, but I roll with the punches and take it like a man derby girl. I'm tough.

I've been in four bouts since starting derby in February/March and still lovin' it. I got new knee pads for the bout we hosted last Saturday and they have made all the difference in the world because my knees were about to fall off. Or break into a million pieces. Everytime I fell it literally felt like my knee was on fire. Burning. Owch.

I got these:

I used to have these:

No matter what anyone tells you, there is a BIG difference. My advice to ANY potential derby girl is to GET GOOD KNEE PADS. My line of thought was, "I don't know if I'm going to stick with this, so I don't want to spend a butt load of money on expensive gear... If I like derby, and I'm going to stick with it, I'll upgrade then."

Well, by then, it's a little too late. Your knees are already grinding and cracking when you rub them and now you have nerve damage and the right side of your right knee is numb like it's been injected with a shot of Novocaine.

You know... uh... hypothetically.

late in life dreams

Does anyone else remember that I used to sing? Probably not. It sounds stupid, but I used to sing a lot. In pageants, mostly for starters, but that led into weddings, funerals, then eventually in the church and on the worship team.

I don't know when I stopped. Maybe when I left the church. But I haven't sang in a very long time... and I miss it.

Except for when I sang Taking Back Sunday's "Make Damn Sure" a couple months back at karaoke with Todd and Adrienne. That was an absolute hit. Brought the house down.

So, I've been getting into Glee, watching too much of it to be honest and now I want to be on Broadway. Or at least go to a real Broadway show. I don't know enough musicals. Make that any. At all.

It might be a little late for that.

---------

Did I mention my car broke down? No, because I haven't been writing. Anyway, somehow the oil leaked or burned out and I "spun the bearing", ruined the engine and the entire engine has to be replaced. So, 2grand later, I'll have a brand new car. This is kind of just the way things go for us and I'm pretty much used to it. I can't let it get me down anymore.
Although something.... something needs to change soon. It's not right. People deserve better than the things life tends to give.

I've always believed that a little change could help anything. Color your hair, rearrange the living room, whatever... I need change so bad that I want to relocate to another continent.

...but there'd have to be roller derby.

(it speaks to me)

I had a dream.
